WHAT HAPPENS WHEN MY GIRL GOES INTO HEAT?
Regardless of her age, you would have to alert us right away when she becomes starts to bleed. Even though we won't breed until she's at least 12 months old, it does help me estimate when she will go through her next heat cycle. In the event that she is further along in her cycle than anticipated, I usually like to schedule the first progesterone test for day three after learning about it, though this can change. During her cycle, it is VERY important to keep her away from any unaltered males and to keep a careful watch on her when she is outside. This could last for two to three weeks.
HOW LONG WILL SHE STAY WITH THE BREEDER DURING HER HEAT?
The schedules of the guardians and breeders have a significant impact on this question. In addition to the guardian's location. Depending on how quickly her levels are rising, we usually do two to four progesterone tests. She can always stay with us for her heat cycle, but she might not need to if you live nearby, are able to pick her up and drop her off, and have a flexible schedule. She will need to spend time with us if you are farther away or don't have a flexible schedule (usually 5-7 days).
AT WHAT AGE WILL SHE START BREEDING?
We breed our females during their 2nd heat which is usually between 12 and 15 months old. Remember that females will go into heat roughly every six months. This means that she will stay with you for her first heat as she will be too young to breed. This program is not for you if you are uncomfortable around blood or if it will cause you a great deal of stress. It will be your duty to make sure she does not conceive with an unwanted male. A female under the age of 12 months will never be bred by us. We may choose to wait until the following cycle after taking the dog's maturity into account.
HOW LONG ARE DOGS PREGNANT?
Dogs typically take 63 days (give or take up to 4 days) to gestate.
WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO MY DOG DURING HER PREGNANCY?
Pregnancy is generally a pretty simple process! You'll probably only notice small changes at first. She might initially appear more exhausted and eat less. To make sure she's getting enough nutrients, it might be necessary to add something more enticing, like chicken or a premium canned food. The first few weeks may also bring on morning sickness in some girls. She is free to carry on with her regular activities and exercise during the first half. She should not be permitted to participate in strenuous activity during the second half, but it is still beneficial for her to get more leisure exercise, like taking walks. It's crucial to increase her food intake and her appetite should also rise.
HOW LONG DOES SHE STAY WITH THE BREEDER AFTER HAVING HER PUPS?
We ask that momma's return four to five days before the anticipated date of whelping. This allows us to start taking her temperature and gives her some time to get used to being back in our house with us. It also helps us determine when she might go into labor. She will need to stay with us for approximately six weeks after the puppies are born, depending on how well the weaning process is going. Puppies will remain for the entire eight weeks, but in order for their mothers to go back to their families, we do have a few dogs that are excellent at helping the puppies socialize.
HOW MANY LITTERS WILL SHE HAVE BEFORE RETIRING?
Our contract allows our females to have up to four litters. There are a few different options regarding delivery. She may delivery her pups at home or be scheduled for a c-section, so you need to be open to whatever is deemed our best option. We do, however, evaluate each individual female and make decisions in light of them. We will remove them from our program if they have difficulty delivering, complications, aren't good moms (i.e., shows no interest in her puppies), or if our veterinarian advises against having any more litters. The health of our dogs comes before whelping and raising puppies at all times.
IS THERE A MONETARY COMPENSATION?
We are aware of how difficult it may be to part with your dog for a few weeks at a time. So, after every litter is adopted, we do provide compensation as a "thank you" for partnering with us. A litter consists of two or more puppies. In the event that two or more puppies are born, you will receive 10% of each puppy's sale price, which is currently $300.
